Amazon has announced its newest bit of hardware to leverage its video streaming service. The Fire TV is a small set-top box, just slightly bigger than the Apple TV, that provides many of the same types of basic services, including streaming video and music, to TVs and home entertainment systems.

The streaming TV hardware market is getting a bit crowded, with hardware from Apple, Roku, Google, and now Amazon attempting to slice up the video pie. So far, Apple and Roku are the leaders in the market, providing the best services for most users.

Amazon’s entry comes with the usual list of streaming content sources, including Netflix, Hulu Plus, YouTube, Pandora, and of course, Amazon’s own Instant Video streaming service.
