Have you ever had trouble accessing files in your Mac’s home folder? How about logging in to your account, or perhaps just deleting files or copying them to another location?

If you’ve seen messages about not having permission to use one of your own files, you’re probably having issues with your home folder recognizing, or more accurately, not recognizing who you are.

Many things can cause these types of issues, but in my experience, the most common cause is file permission errors at the top level of a home folder rippling through all the sub-folders of that account.
