I’m a firm believer in not throwing out technology just because something newer comes along. So when I needed to print some photos recently, I decided to go old school and use a seven-year-old Canon printer I had stored away in our loft.

At the time it was introduced, this Canon printer was a very good photo inkjet printer, and we used to use it exclusively for just that purpose. But as our need or desire for printed photos gave way to digital versions, we eventually retired the printer, and replaced it with an all-in-one for home office use.

While an all-in-one can print photos, they rarely match the quality of a dedicated photo printer. So, I brought the old Canon printer downstairs and set about connecting it to my Mac.
