Apple has finally released the public beta of OS X Yosemite 10.10.3; if you signed up for the beta program, you can install the newest version of the OS on your Mac.

Of course, the big draw is Photos for OS X, the image editing and management app that Apple is pitching as a replacement for iPhoto and Aperture.

Before you download and install the OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 beta, there’s something you should do to ensure that your Mac and your data are protected; after all, this is a beta, and things can sometimes go wrong with beta apps.
